The lights of the ballroom were extinguished for Garden City native Victor Ortiz Tuesday night. He was eliminated from ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
Ortiz and partner Lindsay Arnold were all smiles when they were eliminated from the show. They received a standing ovation from the audience.
Ortiz, the former welterweight boxing champion, later said he expected it after a disappointing rumba on Monday night. The duo have been in the bottom two for a string of weeks.
Ortiz told USA Today that he expected to be eliminated from the show soon, so he told his management to get him a fight.
“I’ll be fighting again in the next couple of months for a world championship,” he told the newspaper.
Ortiz and Arnold aren’t done dancing yet. The duo will return for the season finale in May.
Good Morning America asked Ortiz if he planned on continuing his dancing. He was to the point.
“Absolutely not,” he said. “Did you see my two left feet?”
