Pregnant ladies take note – the list of most popular baby names for the last year has been released.
Jacob and Sophia are once again champions in the 2012 list of most popular baby names.
The U.S. Department of Social Security released the most popular names Thursday. Most names are the same on the 10 most popular, but Elizabeth and Liam have replaced Chloe and Daniel from the 2011 list.
It’s the first time Liam has gotten into the top 10. The Department of Social Security attributes it to actor Liam Neeson’s recent major roles in popular movies.
The biggest change in popularity for the names are Major for boys and Arya for girls. Arya is a name on the popular television show “Game of Thrones.” Major is likely associated with the military title.
The top 10 names for boys are Jacob, Mason, Ethan, Noah, William, Liam, Jayden, Michael, Alexander and Aiden.
The top 10 names for girls are Sophia, Emma, Isabella, Olivia, Ava, Emily, Abigail, Mia, Madison and Elizabeth.
