I’m Kayla Regan, Hutch&Stuff editor, and I’m going to tell you a little bit about what we’re doing on here.
The reporters and photographers at The Hutchinson News are really a pretty smart bunch.
They know what’s going on around town, talk to some of the movers and shakers of the community and have unique insights into the current events shaping our news cycle. Unfortunately, there isn’t always room in the newspaper for everything we’d like to include. That’s why we created this new staff blog site, Hutch&Stuff.
Essentially, Hutch&Stuff is a space for the Hutch News staff to write about things they couldn’t put in the paper. In the short time since our reporters began blogging, Hutch&Stuff posts have given a name to the female-dominated City Council, pontificated on why area soccer just can’t compete and chronicled Hutchinson’s reaction to Dog the Bounty Hunter’s appearance in town.
Of course, like any good website, we’ll have plenty of fun, too. Count on posts describing the lighter side of news. In the last few weeks, Hutch&Stuff posts have described adventures in barbecue, child rearing and watching “Dancing with The Stars.”
Not only does Hutch&Stuff give us a chance to share the stories behind our stories, it also gives readers greater access to The News itself. We’re asking readers to comment on what we have to say, whether it’s good or bad. Judging from the comments section on hutchnews.com, there’s no shortage of opinions in the area.
Lastly, we understand we’re not the only ones with our ears to the ground in Hutch, which is why we’re inviting you to share your ideas with us. If you have something you’d like to see on Hutch&Stuff, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Enjoy the site!
