Just Playin’: Dog bites man

Cliff_Clavin_in_CheersIn honor of Cliff Clavin, the mail carrier who hung out at “Cheers,” that fictitious 1980s bar where everybody knew your name, here’s a little-known fact.

You see, Cliffy liked to say that.

Everything, to him was “a little known fact” because he was the king of trivia – or the trivial, I should say. He was so trivial in his facts, that he was downright dull. Most men in their 40s who still live with their mothers tend to be.

So it would thrill Cliff that the U.S. Postal Service, the company that issued his paycheck, now keeps track of the worst cities in America for dog attacks on letter carriers. He’d be more thrilled to know that he doesn’t live in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles had 69 attacks last year – by far the most. San Antonio was next with 42, while Chicago had 41. Maybe the dogs in LA are ticked off at the start to the Dodgers’ season. Or perhaps it was Kobe’s Injury. Who knows for sure?

Why can’t we all just get along?

The Postal Service said nearly 5,900 postal workers were attacked last year, which isn’t that many when you consider that an average of 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs annually.

By the way, Cliffy might consider relocating to Wichita. The Air Capital had the fewest number of dog attacks on letter carrier with just 20.
