As far as crime goes, it was a busy weekend for many residents and residences of Hutchinson.
In a theft that could damper any child’s summer, a 31-year-old woman reported a trampoline was stolen from her back yard in the 200 block of South Ford Street on Saturday. Also reported stolen this weekend were bicycles, X-Box accessories and a pair of Converse sneakers.
Police also responded to an unusual burglary Saturday in the 700 block of East Second Avenue.
Hutchinson Police Sgt. Eric Buller said a Hispanic male broke into the home around 9:30 p.m., and started talking to a 19-year-old female resident. Buller said the man, whom the victim did not know, told her to come with him. A 42-year-old male was present at the time and the 19-year-old did not leave. Buller said the unknown male eventually left without harming either of them. Police do not have a suspect at this time.
Sunday, police responded to eight reports of property damage, the majority within three blocks of each other in the Carreyville neighborhood. No arrests were made.
The reports included broken windows, a damaged door and swimming pool and slashed car tires. Other residents reported broken garden ornaments and flower pots. One person reported an unknown individual damaging a gas can and pouring gasoline on his wooden porch. Another person reported a person threw eggs and a milkshake at his vehicle and home.
