AMY BICKEL, reporter

I’m an agricultural journalist for the Hutchinson News. I love Kansas – and I have a passion for telling stories centered on Kansas agriculture, rural life and Kansas history. I’ve been chronicling Kansas’ dead towns for The News – through this blog and newspaper stories – since 2010. Many are featured in the book “Dead Towns of Central and Western Kansas.”

KATHY HANKS, reporter

For more than three decades I have been telling the people of Kansas’ stories.  I interview people anywhere –  whether the pilot on the airplane to Timbuktu or the person taking my order at Taco Bell.
I also love gardening, walking down alleys and snooping in backyards to see what’s growing. I  am a  fan  of Downton Abbey and  Frida Kahlo. I have been to her house in Mexico City and I’m trying to duplicate her garden in my Kansas backyard.
Everyone has a story to tell, I want to hear yours.

AMY BICKEL, reporter

My husband, John, and I are the parents of 6-year-old twin girls, Brett and Kaci. And, let’s not forget baby Jordie. They’ve changed our lives. This is our story, through bloodshot eyes, of the hair-pulling and of the crazy happenings from my life as a journalist and from The Crib. To read my newspaper column, visit www.hutchnews.com
